CEU FAQs
The following questions concerning the EOCP Continuing Education Requirements are from certified operators and non operators. If you have a question concerning CEU’s, please contact the EOCP office.
Does the EOCP assess all on site/in house training for each Municipality?
- Yes, applicable fees will have to be paid by either the employer or trainer prior to the CEU value being assessed. All municipality assessed training will be posted on the EOCP website.
When is an operator considered not in good standing (NIGS) and what is the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the EOCP?
- An operator is considered NIGS when they either fail to pay their annual dues or have not met the 2 year CEU requirement. In either circumstance, the operator will be notified and given 90 days in which to comply.
Who is notified when and operator is considered, not in good standing (NIGS)?
- Status of an operator’s certificate will be supplied to the operator; and to regulator or the employer if requested.
Can a course be taken in the fall of the second year, of the CEU 2 year cycle and qualify for CEU’s in the next CEU 2 year cycle.
- No, CEU’s accumulated will only be complied for the current CEU 2 year cycle.
Can a course be taken more than once?
- Yes, but a course can only be considered for CEU’s once within a CEU 2 year cycle. The course can be taken again and CEU’s credited within another CEU 2 year cycle.
Can a Level I - IV operator satisfy the CEU requirement by taking a SAC State Volume I course?
- Yes, a maximum of once within the CEU 2 year cycle.
Can a Level I – IV operator satisfy the CEU requirement by taking a small systems course?
- Yes, a maximum of once within the CEU 2 year cycle.
Can a Level I – IV or SWS/SWWS satisfy the CEU requirement by taking a supervisory course to satisfy the CEU requirement?
- Yes, a maximum of once within the CEU 2 year cycle.
Due retired operators require CEU’s for certificate renewal?
- No, if they are retired (non-active). Yes, if they are still working or start working again.
Due lifetime operators (30 years) require CEU’s for renewal?
- No, if they are retired (non-active). Yes, if they are still working.
Do small system operators require 25% of CEU requirement to be related to each certificate?
Operators who become certified for the first time during a CEU 2 year cycle - are they required to accumulate CEU’s for that cycle?
- No, the operator will have to start CEU accumulation at the start of the next 2 year CEU cycle.
Operators holding an OIT, Chlorine Handling or Bulk Water Delivery, are they required to meet on going CEU requirements?
Operators holding industrial treatment certificates, are they required to meet on going CEU requirements?
- Yes, same requirements as Level I – IV certificates.
Can operators take a lower class course to meet their CEU requirements?
- Yes, a Level II operator could take a small systems course to meet all or part of the CEU requirement.
Operators holding multiple certificates, can they meet requirements for 1 certificate and be not in good standing (NIGS) for the other?
How often is a course re-assessed?
- Every 5 years or sooner if there have been significant changes to the course content.
